Painting Tools

Brush, eraser, clone stamp, and pencil tools for pixel editing.

Brush Tool (B)

Paint strokes on the canvas using the foreground color. Configurable size, opacity, hardness, and flow. Supports pressure sensitivity for pen tablets.

1. Press B to select the Brush tool.
2. Set brush size in the options bar or use [ / ] to decrease/increase.
3. Set opacity (1-100%) and hardness (0-100%) in the options bar.
4. Click and drag on the canvas to paint a stroke.
5. Each complete stroke (mouse down to mouse up) is a single undo step.

Brush Settings

Eraser Tool (E)

Erase pixels on the current layer. On a Background layer, the eraser paints with the background color. On normal layers, it erases to transparency.

1. Press E to select the Eraser tool.
2. Adjust size, hardness, and opacity just like the Brush tool.
3. Click and drag to erase.

Clone Stamp (S)

Copy pixels from one area to another. Useful for retouching, removing blemishes, or duplicating textures.

1. Press S to select the Clone Stamp tool.
2. Hold Alt and click to set the source point.
3. Release Alt and paint on the target area. Pixels are copied from the source.
4. The offset between source and target is maintained as you paint.

Pencil Tool

Similar to the Brush but always paints with hard (aliased) edges. Useful for pixel art and precise single-pixel editing.
