View & Navigation

Zoom, pan, fit to screen, rulers, grid, and guides.

Zooming

Zoom in and out to view your document at different magnification levels. The zoom level is shown in the status bar and title bar.

  1. Use Ctrl+Scroll to zoom in/out centered on the cursor.
  2. Press Ctrl++ to zoom in or Ctrl+- to zoom out.
  3. Press Ctrl+0 to fit the document to the screen.
  4. Press Ctrl+1 to view at 100% (actual pixels).

Panning

Move around the canvas when zoomed in. Multiple panning methods are available.

  • Hold Space and drag to pan (temporary Hand tool).
  • Press H to activate the Hand tool permanently.
  • Use scroll bars (if visible) to scroll the canvas.
  • Middle-click and drag to pan.

Rulers

Display rulers along the top and left edges of the canvas to measure pixel positions. Toggle rulers on and off.

  1. Go to View → Rulers, or press Ctrl+R.
  2. Rulers appear along the top and left edges of the canvas area.
  3. The ruler units match the document resolution setting.

Grid

Display a pixel grid overlay to help with precise alignment. Especially useful at high zoom levels for pixel-perfect work.

  1. Go to View → Show Grid, or press Ctrl+'.
  2. The grid appears as an overlay on the canvas.
  3. Grid spacing can be configured in Preferences.

Guides

Drag guides from the rulers onto the canvas to create alignment lines. Guides are non-printing and help with positioning elements.

  • Drag from the top ruler to create a horizontal guide.
  • Drag from the left ruler to create a vertical guide.
  • Drag a guide back to the ruler to remove it.
  • Go to View → Clear Guides to remove all guides.
Tip:Hold Shift while dragging a guide to snap it to ruler tick marks.
