Text

Text tool, character panel, and paragraph settings for adding and editing type.

Text Tool (T)

Add text layers to your document. Text remains editable until rasterized and is stored as vector data in the PSD file.

  1. Press T to select the Text tool.
  2. Click on the canvas to create a point text layer (auto-sizing).
  3. Or click and drag to create a paragraph text area (fixed-width box).
  4. Type your text. Use the options bar or Character panel to set font, size, and color.
  5. Click away from the text or press Escape to finish editing.

Editing Text

  1. Select the Text tool (T).
  2. Click on an existing text layer to enter edit mode.
  3. Select text by clicking and dragging, or use Ctrl+A to select all.
  4. Make changes to the text content, font, size, or color.
  5. Press Escape or click away to exit edit mode.

Character Panel

The Character panel provides detailed typographic controls.

Paragraph Panel

Control paragraph-level formatting for text areas.

  • Alignment: Left, Center, Right, or Justify
  • Indentation: Left indent, right indent, first line indent
  • Spacing: Space before and space after paragraphs
Tip:Text layers are fully compatible with Photoshop. Font names, sizes, tracking, leading, and color are all preserved in the PSD file.
